10 Star Trek Toys That We Loved

5. Star Trek Bluetooth-Enabled Replicas By The Wand Company

If any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from it, The Wand Company really does do magic. Such sorcery would have blown the mind of any Trekkie kid or adult in the '60s. The Wand Company have successfully managed to pull off the same trick twice, with a third on the way.

To start with, The Wand Company's Bluetooth-enabled Original Series communicator is a work of art, carefully balancing its majestic 21st century components whilst remaining minutely faithful to the mid-20th/23rd century design. Made using 3D scans of the last known 'hero prop', the communicator is a fully-functional Bluetooth handset which can be paired to a mobile phone for use with voice assistants and as a music speaker. For phone calls, yes, you do flip it open to answer! It's worth it for that function alone! Well, at least it would be, but they all appear to be sold out.

Before the communicator, The Wand Company made the Star Trek: The Original Series Phaser Universal Remote Control Prop Replica (type-2 with removable type-1) — a supremely beautiful recreation that's also quite handy for watching Star Trek. You can still buy one for a small fortune second hand, but the Phaser Remote Control is sadly no longer in production. Perhaps even more exciting, however, The Wand Company is set to release its 'fully functional' TOS Tricorder replica which will actually be able to scan, record, and analyse.
