6. Peter White
Peter White played the role of Sharat in Deep Space Nine's second season episode Armageddon Game. He was a career actor, having started young, studying at Yale School Of Drama.
In 1968, he appeared in Matt Crowley's off-broadway play The Boys In The Band, and also appeared in the 1970 film version, both times with Lawrence Luckinbill, who most Trekkies would know best as Sybok. Speaking on this role, White said that he was enjoying a successful career at the time, so taking the role of a gay man attending a party hosted by other gay men was quite a risk.
He credited his one-time co-star and later mentor Myrna Loy for giving him the push he needed to say yes. She simply said that being an actor was about taking risks, and so he accepted the role.
He went on to appear in dozens of other productions, before reuniting with his Band co-stars for a documentary on the film in 2010.
White died in November 2023, at 86 years of age.
