Elizabeth Hoffman, despite the prosthetics, would be immediately recognisable to The Next Generation fans as Premiere Bhavani, appearing in the third season episode The Price. Her species, the Barzans, would inspire the character of Nahn in Star Trek: Discovery, resurrecting this alien race thirty years after Hoffman's appearance.

To SciFi fans, she would also be known for her role as Catherine Langford in Stargate SG-1, appearing in two episodes as the inspiration behind Daniel Jackson's trip through the gate. Hoffman had a long career in front of the camera beginning with a short stint on Little House On The Prairie, with film roles that include the horror-comedy Silent Night, Deadly Night 3: Better Watch Out! and Dante's Peak.

However, it was her role as Beatrice Ventnor in Sisters that may have brought her the most recognition. There, she played the depressed and alcoholic mother of four very different daughters, all of whom were trying to figure out their way in life after the death of their father. Hoffman remained with the show until the series finale.

She died in August 2023, at 97 years of age.
