Star Trek: 10 Times Opening Credits Spoiled The Surprise

For Star Trek's thirtieth anniversary, both series that were airing at the time decided to celebrate. Deep Space Nine decided to have their crew travel back in time via the Orb of Maguffin, depositing them into events, and uniforms, of The Original Series' episode The Trouble With Tribbles. The episode is a pure, fun, fish out of water experiment. Star Trek: Voyager took a different route.

Tuvok suffers a parasitic infection that sends his memory into a tizzy. Seeking to help, Janeway shares a mind meld with him - finding herself, of all places, on the bridge of the USS Excelsior, right around the time of the Battle over Khitomer. Star Trek legends Michael Ansara, Grace Lee Whitney, and none other than George Takei, all appear as their most famous characters in Flashback, donning the Klingon head ridges and Monster Maroons where appropriate.

It was an episode designed for one purpose alone: nostalgia, and in that respect, it succeeded wildly. This, however, is an episode that was seemingly so tied in to the marketing campaign that the writers knew they couldn't possibly hide the surprise appearances. All three of those names appear right after the intro, long before the episode's events take us to the Excelsior. Still, having Kang, Rand, and Sulu appear in Star Trek again?

Priceless.
