Star Trek: 10 Times Voyager Could Have Got Home

3. Seven Might Have Mentioned A Transwarp Hub Earlier

We don't want to come across as though we're being too harsh on Seven of Nine here. Frankly, she did tell Janeway about transwarp hubs before the events that see Admiral Janeway go back in time. So, perhaps the blame for this lies at the captain's feet.

This ties into the events of Dark Frontier. Voyager was desperate to get their hands on transwarp technology, and Seven apparently told her captain about these hubs. While we accept that Voyager couldn't simply have nipped up to one - see the Borg's response for all the proof as to why - but what they could have done was look for any other covert means of approaching. Technically cloaking would be off the table, as Janeway most likely wouldn't have risked the Treaty of Algeron.

But - anything, literally anything - else! One big opportunity, in this writer's opinion, would have been to capitalise on the Borg Civil war following the events of Unimatrix Zero. Remember that? No? Wouldn't blame you. It was a fascinating idea that was simply never mentioned again. For a hot minute, Voyager was flying side by side with a Borg Sphere, the very same vessel that we saw Voyager enveloped by in Endgame, meaning...what was stopping them from simply giving Voyager a lift home?

It couldn't hurt to ask!
