Ups & Downs From Star Trek: Infinite

7. UP: D+E+DS9

Star Trek Infinite Enterprise D
Paradox Interactive

As part of Infinite there is a Mission Tree which helps give players some form of guidance and comforting structure to play. Rather than just head on out and hope for the best, the Mission Tree offers some direction. This is initially just to seek out five new systems but beyond that comes the Federation flagship.

Beautifully rendered in the game, the Enterprise-D comes commanded by one Jean-Luc Picard and is your go-to ship for a range of missions once she's out of the drydock.

While it can be disabled from attacks, the Enterprise can miraculously come back to life at your starbase to continue exploring the final frontier. Each of the senior staff has their own goals to complete. Whether it's finding a number of anomalies, investigating hazards, or performing diplomatic duties to open up one more prize. If you’re lucky enough to complete all of those then there’s the chance to upgrade to the Sovereign Class Enterprise-E and some seriously wider galactic shoulders.

Take a gander down the Mission Tree a bit further and a certain Cardassian mining station is also available, firmly planting a lot of the mythos of the game into the 24th Century styling.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
