Ups & Downs From Star Trek: Infinite

5. DOWN: Historical Accuracy

If fans are looking for this to be a year-by-year Star Trek Universe history lesson then step away. The years will seem to fly by and before you know it’s the 2440s. The progress of your missions and goals does come into play but on occasion, you will need time to play out to gather resources or just get from A to B.

This can mean that the Galaxy Class D is still around 100 years after it was destroyed. Nor do the uniforms, designs, or general environments physically look to upgrade as the tapestry of time is woven. Indeed, the clock really just gives a rather daunting realisation of just how long players have been working on firming up those borders and recruiting management.

But remember, this is just a game and one that has a very specific market. It's more important here to look under the hood than check out the shiny paint because the intricate workings are the draw. Yes, the uniforms might be technically out of date or buildings last for 200 years but it's more key to the development of your strategy to focus on prosperity and evolution than whether Picard is in TNG red and black or First Contact greys. Maybe those dynamics are something to look at for a future upgrade? That said, the California Class uniforms are an extra with the pre-order and Deluxe Editions.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
