Ups & Downs From Star Trek: Infinite

3. UP: Ever Resourceful

Star Trek Infinite Enterprise D
Paradox Interactive

Want to build that new Replicator facility on Wolf 359 or house some more of your colonists on Rura Penthe? Then resources will be your way to provide for the needs of all be they Andorian, Trill, Human, or Kesprytt. Playing initially as the Federation it can be easy to overexpand in the excitement and heat of the moment so take a minute, take stock, and look at what will be needed for that successful empire/union or embassy.

Dilithium, alloys, energy, nanites, chronitons, and many more resources all come into play and through the building of mining stations players can start to build up supplies. These are crucial to building and can also come from doing galactic deals and completing challenges. On the occasion that minerals are low there is also the chance to head to the market and hope there's a good exchange rate on one of your more abundant resources.

It's great to see that Paradox has paid attention to the elements of the Star Trek Universe here rather than just going with generic descriptions. It also helps make it more recognisable as to what resources can be used for.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
