Ups & Downs From Star Trek: Infinite

2. UP: Advance, Advance, Advance

You’re going to need to do a lot of research in a great deal of technological and scientific fields to level up and provide an attractive place to live for your citizens.

The three clear research paths divert players' attention to Engineering upgrades, Physics, and Sciences. These open up ship classes, upgrades to defense and weapons, buildings, leadership enhancements, and much more. It’s essential to keep on top of your research in order to provide all aspects of your growing empire with moves forward. Make sure you have enough scientists to go around for both these three avenues and some science ships to explore the unknown.

Players will need to build enough housing to keep their colonists entertained and productive. Perhaps send a governor out to your settlers to give them a nudge every so often.

While you’re doing that, keep on the lookout for new trade and diplomatic opportunities or even the path to war so your influence across the galaxy will increase. The path to overall victory will be a long one and there are many ways to reach it.

But don't go too far as over-expansion can drain those valuable resources meaning that your research results will sit unused for a while as you build stockpiles back up.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
