1 Up & 5 Downs From Doctor Who Series 12 - Orphan 55

Ups

1. The Creature Design Is Exceptional

There really weren't many stand-out positives in Orphan 55, but the creature of the week took the top (and only good) spot. The Dregs, future mutations of humans were a truly disturbing foe to look at. It's not often we see a truly grotesque creature in the Doctor Who space, something that can stand alone from its doings and just be scary based on how it looks alone.

Resembling something between a Xenomorph, the Hoix from series 2's Love and Monsters, and Resident Evil 3's Nemesis, the Dregs were a truly horrifying creature to be lost in the dark with. However, the episode could have been more minimal with their exposure of the creatures to make them more terrifying. Keep the cinematography seen in the opening ten minutes or so throughout to keep them more mysterious and scary each and every time they crop up.

Orphan 55 goes down as potentially one of the weakest episodes in NuWho history, but do you agree? Sound off in the comments!
