10 2000s Superhero Cartoons Fans Shouldn't Ignore
2. The Secret Saturdays
What do you get when you mix Indiana Jones with the Fantastic Four and a little bit of Universal Monster magic? The answer is The Secret Saturdays. A family of Cryptozoologists, the Saturdays venture all around the world, finding and protecting cryptids like Bigfoot and Moth Man, keeping them a secret from antagonistic forces that wish to do them harm.
The Saturdays as a family have a great dynamic to watch, with Doc and Drew (the parents) acting as a more tender version of Reed Richards and Sue Storm as they are fascinated by their work but still care dearly for their son, making his safety the priority of any mission. Zak (Doc and Drew’s 11-year-old son) is the star of the show, being headstrong but intelligent enough to sometimes outsmart his genius parents.
Joined by their three pets, the family travel in an airship but sometimes clash with the villainous V.V Argost.
Argost is the arch-enemy of the family, with a larger than life personality. He's a smooth-talking megalomaniac that causes many traumatic events in the family’s history. Being Doctor Doom if he went to drama camp every summer (because somehow a man called Victor Von Doom still hasn't attained the pinnacle of drama), Argost makes the show interesting as he raises the stakes when adventures slow down. There are other villains such as Van Rook and Munya, but there’s a certain charm to Argost that is very infectious.
