10 Doctor Who Spinoffs Fans Want In The Whoniverse

Each of the TV spinoffs we’ve had so far have ended prematurely.

With Torchwood and Class, there simply wasn’t enough demand from audiences. But The Sarah Jane Adventures was different – that show would have continued had it not been for the untimely passing of Elisabeth Sladen.

The fifth series was originally planned to be six stories rather than three, culminating with The Battle of Bannerman Road. More stories were being planned beyond this, with one suggestion seeing Sarah Jane relocate to the countryside for a soft reboot in Series 6. Ultimately, it wasn’t to be.

At the time, the production team were (quite rightly) adamant that the show couldn’t go on without Sarah Jane herself. Even so, it’s a great shame that we never got to see more of her ‘companions’, Luke, Clyde, and Rani.

The actors who played these characters are now all adults, and Sarah Jane’s death has been addressed in-universe in The Giggle. So why not pick up from there, with a show that centres on the SJA kids? A similar concept has been explored on audio, while Clyde has popped up in Tales of the TARDIS. A show like this could give the Whoniverse a vital presence on CBBC, in the same way The Sarah Jane Adventures did.

They could even throw in an experienced mentor character like Mel, Ace, or Martha Jones to lead the charge. Yes please!
