10 Actors Who Sneakily Played Two Characters In A TV Show

8. Paget Brewster - Community

Fans of Community are extremely aware (and proud) of how carefully thought out and executed the show was. The series constantly set out to create intelligent, meta commentary on pop culture, politics and even its own show.

So, bearing in mind that this tv series was always aware of what they were doing, it decided to sneak in actress Paget Brewster in two roles by hiding her in plain sight.

Paget appeared on the show for the first time in season 5 in a very small part as Greendale's IT lady. Well, the showrunners must have loved her deeply, because the next season rolled around and Paget suddenly was at the forefront of the show as newcomer Frankie

But Paget was not hidden in a wig, or silly glasses in an effort to cover up their double casting, because this was Community; the incredibly smart and witty sitcom that spent an episode playing out multiple timelines. Instead, the show hid Paget in plain sight, making a sneaky joke about the meta-ness of the series.

Remember, Community ended in a hilariously meta tag scene, in which the show is a show, within a board game, within a show, within an advert for a board game. So when Frankie says she's unable to contact the school's IT lady, because the emails keep bouncing back to HER, and that whenever she calls her phone number all she hears is a high pitch ringing noise that makes her nose bleed, people's minds should have been blown.

But they weren't, because Community were so clever that no one even noticed the joke, and most people didn't even notice that Frankie WAS the IT lady. Only later, once the show had ended and been put on Netflix for binging purposes, did people finally register the double casting!

Lily thought it was about time she wrote Top Ten lists for people other than herself. She also owes her dog a lot of money so she thought it was about time to pay her dues. There is no tv show she likes that she hasn't seen at least twice.
