The late Peter Cushing had a laudable career to say the least. Spanning over several decades, the actor has appeared in more than one-hundred films, as well as taking on many television, radio, and stage roles.

Peter Cushing technically has played the Time Lord before. In the 1960s, he accepted the role of appearing in two Doctor Who movies – Dr Who and the Daleks (1965) and Daleks – Invasion Earth: 2150 AD (1966). The films were remakes of stories from the television series and changed the alien Doctor to an actual human scientist.

But in terms of the main television series, Cushing declined the chance for the second Doctor. The actor allegedly had conflicting schedules but also admitted even if he didn’t have other work lined up, he probably would have still turned down the role.
