10 Actors Who Turned Down Voicing Characters On The Simpsons
6. Quentin Tarantino
As will become a persistent theme throughout this list, Quentin Tarantino is one of many familiar faces who has technically appeared on The Simpsons without voicing himself.
Tarantino was asked to guest star in the eighth season’s Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala(Annoyed Grunt)icious, though he rejected the role after finding issues with his proposed dialogue. The episode was slated to see Tarantino as a guest director on the Itchy & Scratchy Show, working on an episode entitled Reservoir Cats, in itself a not-so-subtle nod to his 1992 feature film debut, Reservoir Dogs.
The famed director, who was ultimately voiced by veteran Simpsons voice artist Dan Castellaneta, uttered the following after witnessing Itchy strapping Scratchy to a chair:-
“What I’m trying to say in this cartoon is that violence is everywhere in our society. You know, it’s like even in breakfast cereals, man.”
In true Itchy and Scratchy fashion, Tarantino was then beheaded by Itchy, with the rival felines dancing around his headless body. Matt Groening and team were adamant about keeping the character and the brief dialogue in the script, which is what brought Castellaneta into the role. He did a decent job, too, all things considered.
