10 Actors Who Turned Down Voicing Characters On The Simpsons

Similarly to fellow Hollywood buff Quentin Tarantino, Clint Eastwood has appeared on The Simpsons - but again, he didn't voice himself, with Dan Castellaneta stepping into the role once more.

The skit, from season nine's All Singing, All Dancing, featured the supposed Eastwood starring as an outlaw in western musical Paint Your Wagon, which saw him confronted by an unnamed man in a village, who informed Clint that his wagon was "sorry-looking". Eastwood stated that it could do with a coat of paint before bursting into a big song and dance, hence the episode's name.

For the uninitiated, the segment was a spoof from Dirty Harry, a 1971 Don Siegel-directed classic that first starred Eastwood in the role of 'Dirty' Harry Callahan, an inspector with the San Francisco Police Department.

As far as the actual Clint Eastwood is concerned, however, he was offered and subsequently rejected the role of Dr Wolfe, Lisa's sadistic dentist in season four's Last Exit to Springfield. The role went through a number of possible voice artists, as Anthony Hopkins also turned down the offer following Eastwood's unexpected rejection. It eventually went to series regular Hank Azaria, who replaced the iconic Psycho star Anthony Perkins after the 60-year-old tragically passed away prior to recording, as per his agreement.
