10 Actors With Multiple Roles In Doctor Who
5. Mark Gatiss
First Role: Professor Lazarus (The Lazarus Experiment)
Second Role: Gantok (The Wedding of River Song)
Another actor who has popped up in a handful of Doctor Who roles, Mark Gatiss was one of the most prominent creative voices in the revived era of the show.
Not only did he write nine episodes between 2005 and 2017, but he also has a trio of credited acting roles to his name - as well as a few non-credited ones.
His first was in 2007's The Lazarus Experiment, where he played Richard Lazarus, a man who invented a machine to make himself look younger. While the machine was effective for a short time, it ultimately ended up transforming him into a grotesque monster, forcing the Tenth Doctor and Martha Jones to intervene.
Gatiss then went completely uncredited (which is why we haven't put this as his second role) for two episodes: Victory of the Daleks in 2010, and A Good Man Goes to War in 2011. Here, he provided the voice of British fighter pilot Danny Boy, who first assisted the Doctor in his fight against the Daleks in the former episode, before returning for the assault on Demons Run's communications array in the latter.
Next up, Gatiss had a small role as Gantok (under a lot of makeup) in Series 6 finale The Wedding of River Song - where he was credited as "Rondo Haxton" - and finally, he featured as Captain Lethbridge-Stewart in Steven Moffat and Peter Capaldi's final Doctor Who episode, Twice Upon a Time.
