Dean-Charles Chapman is best known for playing Tommen Baratheon, the sweet, unassuming brother of wretched tyrant Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) on Game of Thrones, a part he played from seasons four to six (replacing Callum Wharry.)

Yet despite how visible Tommen became in later years, this wasn't actually the first character Chapman played in HBO's hit fantasy series.

Just a year before he made his debut as Tommen, Chapman appeared in two season three episodes as Martyn Lannister, a squire in the Lannister army who gets kidnapped and executed by Rickard Karstark (John Stahl).

As for the story behind Chapman being brought back to play such a prominent character? In his own words:

"Six months [after playing Martyn] I got a phone call from my agent saying that [Game of Thrones] wants to bring you back, as this character called Tommen. I still didn't watch [the series]! I was like, 'Who's Tommen, who is this kid?' My mates were like, 'He's Joffrey's brother. Joffrey's an a**hole. You'll be the brother of an a**hole."
