10 Actors You Didn't Know Were In Star Trek Twice
4. Armin Shimmerman
Everybody knows that Armin Shimmerman has played various Ferengi in Star Trek, with the most notable being Quark in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. However, what's less obvious is that he also played a big silver face in the TNG episode Haven. The face was attached to a Betazoid gift box, a wedding gift given to Betazed couples that had been bonded.
It's a brief appearance by Shimmerman in the role of the gift box, delivering a message to Deanna Troi, who is the recipient of the gift box. He informs Troi that her mother and future in-laws are on their way for her impending wedding day. After that, he goes back to sleep and is never heard from again.
Troi's future wedding is similarly short-lived when her intended, Wyatt, decides to stay behind on a Terellian starship to assist in curing the devastating plague that afflicts them.
Armin Shimmerman later referenced his first ever Star Trek role in his DS9 novel The 34th Rule, which featured a scene of Quark selling the Betazoid gift box to a Bolian, who thought the face on the box reminded him of the Ferengi.
