10 Amazing Horror TV Shows You Probably Missed

4. Scream

When MTV's Scream was first announced the reaction was lukewarm to say the least, with a general worry being that it'd just use the film series as a backdrop for angsty teen drama. While partly true, it also managed to defy expectations and grew into a solid horror show.

There are three seasons with one two hour Halloween special that make up the series. The first two seasons and the special follow one story, while the third season is self-contained.

The series does a lot of things really well, but its biggest accomplishment is, oddly enough, the angsty teen drama. At the start, it certainly feels as though drama will get grating, but as it goes on the characters become more likable and their relationships turn into the beating heart of the show. This in no way means that the horror gets sidelined, just that its trying to balance several things at once and does so spectacularly.

That all however really only goes for the first two seasons and the special, as season three is the weaker part of the series. Luckily, it doesn't tie in at all with what came before.

Whether or not you watch the whole series or skip the third season, MTV's Scream is a satisfy series worthy of its namesake.
