10 Amazing TV Cameos That Should've Happened (But Didn't)

8. Tom Hanks €“ Breaking Bad

During its 5 year run, Breaking Bad didn't rely too much on any celebrity cameos. In fact, the only one I can honestly remember is Danny Trejo's brief appearance as Tortuga. If anything, Breaking Bad did a better job of introducing new faces to the world with its recurring characters. The careers of Giancarlo Esposito (Gus Fring), Jonathan Banks (Mike), and Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul!) were greatly boosted by their performances on the AMC show. But there is one cameo I waited for that didn't happen: Tom Hanks. Back in 2012, a video went viral of a Tom Hanks cameo in the first season of Breaking Bad. Of course, the video was really just a mashup of two scenes: the acid corpse falling through the roof of Jesse's house and a scene from Money Pit. When I first saw that video, I eagerly awaited for an actual cameo from Tom Hanks to surprise everyone, but Vince Gilligan never got around to it. In a way, it's probably smart that they didn't risk ruining the tone of the show with something "meta" (this isn't Community, after all), but seeing one of cinema's best actors interact with some of the best actors on television would have been one of the best moments of 2013.
