2. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - Jonathan Joestar
Jonathan Joestar has had quite a hard life. When he is still but an infant, his mother dies, but that is the least of his difficulties. His brother humiliates and tortures him, killed his beloved dog, his father, and even caused the death of Jonathan's mentor.
Despite this, Jonathan never lets any of this keep him down; he remains steadfast in his morals, never wavering in his kindness and good nature. Every time a trial presents itself, he overcomes it.
It isn't merely the personal trials that Jonathan overcomes, but rather his brother Dio himself. Twice he defeats the vampire lord, twice he emerges the victor in a contest of power and skill. The first JoJo is clearly the better man, the better fighter.
After finally vanquishing his nemesis, Jonathan marries his childhood love and set sail off to America for their honeymoon; it is at this happy ending that Dio makes an appearance and finally manages to murder his brother. Once Jonathan ensures his wife is safe, he embraces Dio's head and even feels compassion towards the man who has taken everything from him.
