10 Awesome Cartoons That Grown Ups Can Enjoy

Aang Avatar The Last Airbender Cartoons historically have not been meant for adults (just ask your grandfather, who probably still stubbornly feels that way). Mostly, with some exception cartoons were simply made as amusement for children that were often made as cheaply as achievable. They were just cartoons, and nothing more. This way of thinking thankfully changed during the late €˜80s. In 1987, The Tracey Ullman Show made its debut to critical acclaim, but almost no public interest. However the show would go down in history for introducing us to the screwball cartoon world of The Simpsons. After initially being featured in 90 second shorts on the variety show, Bart, Homer, Marge, Lisa, Maggie and the rest of Springfield were skyrocketed to irrefutable super-stardom. The Simpsons debuted in 1989 and the rest is history. The show would go on to change the industry perspective of what an animated series could be. The show prompted a tidal wave of adult cartoons, flooding the market with socially and politically charged cartoons for adults. Today we are going to be counting down some of the greatest cartoons for adults (leaving out a few obvious choices, such as South Park, Family Guy, Futurama, Robot Chicken, King of the Hill, Beavis and Butt-head, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, The Boondocks, American Dad and The Simpsons, to name a few). These next shows are great because unlike their counterparts that are made strictly for children they are bound by practically nothing. They don€™t have to tone down their dark or irreverent humor and they are able to properly get out their ideas and stories. So let€™s get into it, these are ten awesome cartoons that grown-ups can enjoy. Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional.
