10 Awesome Sci-Fi TV Shows That Won't Return Until 2021

Supergirl's fifth season was a series of highs and lows for the long-running series. Though it hammered the Kara/Lena Luthor saga into the ground with the latter's mind-numbingly repetitive 'I'm-not-a-villain-but-I'll-just-act-like-one-because-I'm-a-Luthor-damn-it' shtick, it did offer up some incredible performances from Melissa Benoist, Katie McGrath, Jesse Rath and the incomparable Jon Cryer. It also staged an impressive comeback in the end as its truncated season finale was ultimately the best of the Arrowverse's conclusions this year.

On any normal year, the show would return in October, but that won't be happening this time around. While the current world events have pushed all of the Arrowverse shows to next year, Supergirl won't be returning in January with the rest of her fellow heroes. This could be down to the leading lady's pregnancy, or it could just have to do with the fact that The CW wants Superman & Lois to stand alone when it debuts, but whatever the reason, we can all rest assured that our beloved Girl of Steel will return.

As of right now, Supergirl is expected to make a comeback between spring and summer 2021.
