10 Awesome TV Characters Who Never Deserved Their Terrible Deaths

10. The Walking Dead - Dale

Walking Dead Dale When asking my friends about possible entries to this list of characters, most of them brought up Dale. Majority rule standing, I definitely thought he should go up. However, let's look at Dale's time on the show. A guy who wanted to use his retirement to travel the country, he took in Andrea and Amy at the start of the outbreak and acted as their surrogate protector. As a part of the main group, he was an observer of everyone's actions, and usually his instincts served him right. He did whatever he could to make sure everyone survived. That's not to say he didn't have disagreements with everybody. In "Judge, Jury, Executioner," Dale is outvoted when the group decides to execute an outsider in order to ensure their own safety (the outsider was allied with men who raped women). Dale, believing that this decision goes against morality and their very humanity, is disgusted that Rick would do such a thing. Afterwards, he's walking in a field by himself when he is attacked by a Walker. His injuries too severe, he is euthanized by Daryl, ensuring that he won't turn into a Walker. I don't know much about the comic series, but I have read that Dale survives a lot longer in the comic than the show. I realize the writers make creative decisions when it comes to distancing the two versions, but this seems out of character for Dale. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like he would have been smart enough to know not to walk alone in a field at night, even with all the emotional turmoil he was going through. Yes, I realize in the world of "The Walking Dead" that people are gonna get attacked by Walkers, but did Dale really have to be one of those casualties?
