10 Awesome TV Shows You Could Be Binging On Right Now

5. Arrested Development

As Ron Howard tells us in the intro: "And now the story of a wealthy family who lost everything. And the one son who had no choice but to keep them all together." Arrested Development is a quirky comedy about a severely dysfunctional family. When it first aired, it wasn't hugely popular, though the audience it did have was incredibly enthusiastic. Unfortunately, it wasn't a time when social media could have helped demonstrate this cult following (like it did with Community). The ratings were poor, and FOX canceled the show after 3 seasons. But that doesn't change the fact that the show is hilarious. Great writing and brilliant acting combine with a seamless plot line and continual callbacks and running gags--No touching! I've made a huge mistake... Steve Holt!--to name a few. This show will have you laughing, feeling awkward, and feeling grateful for your normal family for hours on end. And bonus: Netflix decided to ride the Mitch Hurwitz train and put out season 4 as a Netflix semi-original series. While it's not as sharp as the first three, it's full of great moments. And according to the rumor mill, it was a jumping off point for a movie. Here's hoping. Binging Advice: Watch it. A lot. Repeat. You will miss a lot of gems on the first run through that you will appreciate more the second time around. Also, keep in mind that the local news anchor frequently featured (John Beard) is the actual real-life FOX anchor for that area of California. It makes his scenes that much sweeter. Seasons 1-4 available on Netflix.
