10 Awesome TV Shows That Never Won A (Major) Emmy Award

From one groundbreaking series to another, Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a remarkable achievement, but one that garnered almost no recognition from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The series won for Outstanding Makeup and Music Compilation back in 1998, and received a further 12 nominations, almost exclusively in technical categories - with a Writing nod for Joss Whedon the sole exception.

Like Oz, it should've been in with a shout for the top prize before The West Wing started dominating, but was likely a bit too weird (and, of course, on the wrong network) to really succeed. Going further into its run, when the dominance of other shows was clearer, there's still a strong case to be made for Writing and Directing wins: Hush was only nominated for the latter, and somehow The Body and Once More With Feeling - two very different, but equally brilliant episodes - didn't even receive that much.
