10 Bad Seasons Of Otherwise Great TV Shows

3. Roseanne - Season 9

Scrubs Season 9
ABC

Okay, Roseanne was never exactly the pinnacle of TV, but it was a pretty fun sitcom for the time. However, the last season of the show is one of the most bizarre things to ever happen to a series, and it's still pretty baffling today that any of this took place.

The majority of the series is about an average, middle class family struggling to get by, and then at the beginning of Season 9, the Conner family wins the lottery, taking home $108 million. Woah. Then the rest of the season feels like a bizarre acid trip week after week, with the characters (and the show) going insane with their newfound wealth.

There's an episode where Roseanne models for Playboy, there's one where she appears on classic shows like I Dream of Jeannie, at one point Roseanne battles terrorists in an episode called Roseambo, Jackie dates a prince and becomes a wrestler, and it just keeps getting weirder and weirder. It's a truly bizarre stretch of episodes that suddenly turns this mostly grounded family sitcom into a strange fantasy show.

And then the last episode reveals the whole thing was a dream. Yeah, in the series finale, it's revealed that Roseanne actually imagined the entire last season, including the family winning the lottery, to cope with the fact that Dan died of a heart attack. And that's it.

What an ending.
