10 Best "B" Plots In The Simpsons

In terms of B-Plots, you can't really get much better - or more abundant - than Season 5's elaborately-titled "$pringfield (or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Legalised Gambling)".

The main focus of the episode is the construction of Mr. Burns' new casino. What happens after the casino is built is where things get confusing.

It's hard to say which of the many, MANY stories running throughout this episode is the A-Plot. It could be Marge's gambling addiction. Or maybe Bart running his own casino out of his treehouse. Or maybe it's Lisa and her state beauty pageant. Perhaps it's safer to say that this episode doesn't have a main story, which would technically make all of these stories B-Plots.

If that is the case, then we can also include Mr. Burns' plot in this episode, where he becomes a paranoid germaphobe.

Mr. Burns' descent into madness is as haunting is at is side-splittingly funny. This plot only takes place in a handful of scenes, but in that time we get so many memorable gags, including the legendary "Spruce Moose" joke that ranks among many Simpsons fans' all-time favourites.

"$pringfield" is one of the best-crafted episodes in Simpsons history and, thanks to amazing plots like this one, it's also one of the funniest.
