10 Best "B" Plots In The Simpsons

8. Frostillicus - Lisa The Simpson

Mr Burns
Fox

Of all the characters in The Simpsons, Jasper Beardley - yes, that's his full name - is probably one of the least developed. However, his absolute stand-out moment comes in Season 9's "Lisa The Simpson".

Jasper decides that he wants to see the distant future, so takes the extreme measure of cryogenically freezing himself in the Kwik-E-Mart.

Being the businessman he is, Apu decides to capitalise on this bizarre turn of events, transforming the Kwik-E-Mart into the "Freak-E-Mart" and charging gawping customers to stare at Jasper, who he renames "Frostillicus".

This leads to some brilliant moments as the people of Springfield react to their latest tourist attraction. Grandpa delivers one of his trademark rambles about how he knew Frostillicus before he was frozen and Jasper has one of his best ever lines when, upon unfreezing in what he believes to be the future, he sees a tin of "Moon Pie" and remarks "What a time to be alive!".

Frostillicus is wacky, yet believable and this formula has produced some of The Simpsons' finest work. It's proof that the show doesn't always have to rely on its core characters, as the main Simpson family are nowhere near this entire plot.
