Kathy Bates crawled into fans hearts back in the 90's when she played the lovable Molly Brown in Titanic, and she's been residing there ever since. Her characters on American Horror Story are no exception either. She tends to play lovable and strong mother types that make you root for her no matter the circumstances - who could forget ol' Ethel Darling in Freak Show? In American Horror Story: Coven, Kathy did something we never thought she could make us do, however. She made us loathe her as the racist and despicable Madame Marie Delphine LaLaurie, a character based on the notorious New Orleans socialite, who tortured her slaves in the most inhumane ways (well, torture in itself is rather inhumane, but hey). Bates delivered an awesome performance, just like we knew she would.
