I'm willing to bet cash money that the creator of Grappler Baki came up with this bonkers creation when he read JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, took a look at that title and said "Bizarre? You call this BIZARRE? Challenge accepted, weakling!" and then proceeded to create this gloriously insane anime.

Baki is what you get when you take an asylum patient who rambles on about mole people and how Qanon is actually a red herring set up by the plush toy syndicate, and teach him the ins and outs of martial arts and human anatomy, and then make a manga out of the ensuing wall writing. There is so much insane nonsense in this anime that I literally cannot name it all, and yet the story is still somehow compelling.

This contrast extends into the artwork. At first glance it's one of the ugliest anime one could lay their eyes on. But when you look closer and have an eye for detail, you'll notice that almost everything drawn IS anatomically correct. At least in the sense that every muscle given cartoonish proportions ARE real muscles in the human body and are drawn in an anatomically correct fashion.

Beyond that though, this is the anime to watch if you're in the mood for bloody, dirty, knock down drag out fight scenes. The choreography is amazing, the exaggerated art mixed with the attention to detail on the characters' anatomy makes every punch, kick, stab and chop feel visceral and raw, and the insanity of the stories ensures that - unlike every other sports anime out there, this one will keep you guessing, unable to figure out what's up next.

It's DEFINITELY not for everyone, but if you've become desensitized to the madness of JoJo, this show will give you a much needed slap of insanity to the face.
