10 Best Anime Shows Of The Last Decade
9. Hunter X Hunter
Technically speaking, Hunter x Hunter is a show that has existed for some time, and shouldn't qualify for this list. However, the rebooted version of the anime from 2011 means that it can be included. While there is a ton of debate over which edition is superior, they both have been hugely successful, with the rebooted version moving the series into familiar but fresh territory.
Hunter x Hunter's narrative follows Gon Freecss, a young boy who finds out that his once thought deceased father is alive. He discovers that his dad is a Hunter, a person who has proven themselves to be an elite member of humanity. Thus, Gon sets out to follow the path his father laid out, and become a legendary Hunter himself.
The narrative starts relatively simply, but gradually develops into something altogether more enthralling and complex. Additionally, the characters are so likeable that it's almost impossible not to get invested in them.
The show exceeds in so many things, as the bright and colourful aesthetic is fun to watch, but the dark tale being spun makes it feel mature and shocking.
