Many people will know The Clone Wars as the series that resurrects Darth Maul, along with introducing his brother, the appropriately named Savage Oppress. (Star Wars sure does love their obvious villain names, given that this is also the show that features a Jedi literally named Ima-Gun Di.)
To understand how the famous Sith returns, the episodes Nightsisters, Monster, and Witches of the Mist are essential viewing. But more than that, this is the moment in the series that the creators really started adding to the lore of Star Wars. The Nightsisters have become a big part of the Star Wars universe, with characters like Ventress, Mother Talzin, and Merrin from the video game Fallen Order, all originating from the clan.
The arc is not only refreshing because it is told from the point of view of the villains, but also due to the insight it gives us into Count Dooku's assassin Asajj Ventress (who up till this point had been pretty one dimensional).
