10 Best Buffy The Vampire Slayer Villains

One of the greatest characters in the entire Buffyverse, Spike was a riot as the show's season two villain. With his punk-rock get-up, his bleach-blond hair and his arrogant demeanor, he arrived in the show's second season on a mission to kill the Slayer - a feat he'd already accomplished twice during his short tenure as a vampire.

He proved able to take on Buffy hand-to-hand, and gathered up an army to help him conquer her and her friends. As a villain, he wasn't around for very long in the grand scheme of things, sidelined by his slightly more unhinged accomplices, but the time fans do get to seem him is simply brilliant, menacing, and very entertaining.

Of course, he'd have another go at being the bad guy in seasons three and four, but neither efforts stuck, and in time he became one of the ultimate good guys, falling in love with Buffy and giving his life to save the world from the First Evil's armies. It's a hell of an arc, but doesn't take away from how great a bad guy he was.
