4. BoJack Horseman

Existential animated comedy BoJack Horseman is one of the strangest outings in TV history, I mean it's about a formerly famous horse who struggles with various substance abuse problems and his dwindling status, and it is as funny and fantastic as it sounds. Set in a world where humanoid animals live nonchalantly in everyday life, BoJack Horseman is a shockingly deep and philosophical comedy that delights as much as it depresses.

Everyone from Will Arnett to Alison Brie is absolutely on song in each and every episode and manage to anchor the insanity of the premise in a hearty realism thanks to their believable and engaging characters. The writing throughout is superb as well and the comedy is so perfectly offset by its often poignant plot points and deep introspection into how life can get away from us before we even realize it.

BoJack is a self-destructive, and often hard to like, lead but he feels real and flawed in a way that makes him extremely sympathetic and that is serious credit to the people behind this show. Once you're in, you'll end up horse telling people to watch this show...sorry...
