10 Best Comic Book TV Shows Never Made

These days, it's impossible to think about Nick Fury without picturing Samuel L. Jackson. The MCU's version of the character has appeared across eleven movies, more than any other in the franchise, and in doing so has established himself as THE version of the Marvel character. Much like Robert Downey Jr is synonymous with Tony Stark, Sam Jackson is with Nick Fury.

However, before the MCU, and before the comics changed Fury's image to reflect that of Jackson, the Director of SHIELD had a very different look. So different, that in 1998 he was set to be played by David Hasselhoff in his own series.

Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD was a movie released in the late 90's, and was set to act as a pilot for the TV show to come, but was ultimately never picked up. Though it received mixed to negative reviews, one of the highlights was Hasselhoff's performance as the titular hero.

Stretched out over a full series, with more time allowed for story and character development, this could have been something good, in a similar way to Daredevil on Netflix far surpassing the movie from 2003. Fury was unknown to the mainstream coming into Iron Man in 2008, but if the Hoff had been given a full series to bring the character to life, who knows?
