6. Professor Sheffield

Professor Peter Sheffield is a smug Greendale teacher whose claim to fame is his book Who Indeed: A Critical Analysis of Television's Who's the Boss. The book sets out to prove that the titular question of the show, Who's the Boss, is rhetorical. Sheffield now offers a class at Greendale on his book.

In the episode "Competitive Wine Tasting", Sheffield meets his match: Abed. Abed enrols in the class, and offers up the opinion that Angela Bower is "the boss.

Sheffield, played by the great Stephen Tobolowsky, laughs at this theory, and flexes his Who's the Boss muscles at Abed. However, this motivates Abed to prove, by every definition, that Angela is "The Boss." When Abed successfully does so, Sheffield dismisses the class, as he reaches in his desk drawer for his other book, What Was Happening, An Analysis of What's Happening.

Sheffield does a great job of showing the weirdness of Greendale Community College. Only Greendale would offer a class about one specific TV show, and Tobolowsky's serious performance as Sheffield highlights the sheer goofiness of the situation.
