It's Mike Flanagan, back at it again with yet another compelling, thought-provoking and genuinely genius character demise. However, while Riley's death in Midnight Mass was an emotionally charged exchange, Nell's death was a mind-blowing revelation.

All the characters in The Haunting Of Hill House went through hell, but poor Nelly had it especially hard. She was haunted from a young age by the terrifying appearances of the Bent-Neck Lady - a ghostly figure with a snapped neck. As she grew up, she continued to see this figure on rare occasions, and no matter where her life went, she would always suffer from the ghostly machinations of Hill House.

This all came to a head when her therapist recommended she return to the site of her trauma, the titular Hill House. However, whilst there she is greeted by visions of her life as a child. Eventually, the visions fade, and she is met with her mother's ghost, who puts a noose around her neck and pushes her off the stairwell.

As if hanging wasn't bad enough, Nell then transports through time to all the moments where the Bent-Neck Lady appeared before her, realising that she had been this ghostly figure all along. It's the kind of reveal that simultaneously scares you and gives you goosebumps.
