10 Best Doctor Who Big Finish Releases

6. The Justice Of Jalaxar

Doctor Who Big Finish
BBC / Big Finish

Since joining Big Finish, Tom Baker has been reunited with all of his available on-screen companions, including Leela, Romana and Adric. But this 2014 story is from the second series which united Tom with Mary Tamm’s incarnation of Romana. Sadly, this is her only series with Tom before passing later that year. However, this TARDIS team, including K-9, went on to fight Daleks, and crossed paths with the maniacal Cuthbert (played by the phenomenal David Warner). But in-between all this, the Fourth Doctor is reunited with Jago and Litefoot, from the classic ‘Talons of Weng-Chiang’.

This atmospheric Victorian adventure sees a vigilante team up with a robot programmed to uphold the law of whatever planet it is on. It is a prime example of the charming stories to be found in ‘Fourth Doctor Adventures’ range, many of which could also have featured on this list.

What is lovely about these stories, with ‘The Justice of Jalaxar’ being a prime example, is that Tom Baker is absolutely still the Fourth Doctor, and his interactions with his companions and guest stars truly shows how much he still enjoys Doctor Who.
