10 Best Doctor Who Characters Only In One Episode

9. Razor (John Simm) - World Enough And Time

While John Simm's The Master has obviously been in multiple episodes of Doctor Who over the last decade-and-a-half, his Razor disguise has only appeared once, and it's a testament to his acting ability that the two feel like completely different personas.

Razor is what would happen if your weird yet kind uncle suffered a financial crisis and was forced to live on the streets. With a funny crooked smile and some homeless man clothes, he looks all scruffy, but his inherent charm shines through his tattered outer appearance.

He's incredibly fun to watch, with his terrible accent and rampant dad humour coming across as weirdly charming, and the fact that he's so entertaining also means that the episode's cliffhanger twist is even more impactful, since you'll be genuinely sad to see Razor give way to The Master's extremely punchable face.

On that note, heavy praise must be directed at Simm for tricking us all into thinking that Razor was actually a decent guy - no easy task, considering that his true identity was outed before the episode aired, and we all knew a reveal was coming - but somehow, the actor pulled it off.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
