10 Best Doctor Who Minisodes That You Need To See

Doctor Who The Night of the Doctor Paul McGann Eighth Doctor
BBC

Space and Time were produced and aired as part of Comic Relief in 2011, and later included as DVD extras. These two minisodes tell a self contained story featuring Eleven and the Ponds. In Space, Rory is assisting the Doctor with TARDIS repairs whilst Amy complains that she isn’t trusted to help. Rory reminds Amy that she once crashed his car into a house, to which she snaps back about passing her test first time, though apparently only because she wore a short skirt.

The moment Amy realises she’s wearing the same skirt she did during her driving test, the TARDIS begins to shake violently and the power goes out due to Rory dropping a thermal coupling downstairs. Amy apologises to the Doctor, who is confused as to how this could possibly be her fault to which she explains:

“Because it was my skirt, and my husband and your glass floor...”

After expressing shock and disappointment in Rory, the Doctor manages to bring the TARDIS online again, only to reveal that it has managed to materialise inside itself. The Doctor, as anyone would, immediately sticks his hand through the door and waves at himself, before we are interrupted by the arrival of a second Amy.

The second episode... to be honest, doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense, but given it’s a comic relief special, we’ll give it a pass. Amy two tells Amy one she needs to step through the doors of the TARDIS inside the TARDIS, before appearing again with Rory two, who says that Amy two and Rory one need to get in the TARDIS, Doctor two then appears telling Doctor one to use the wibbly lever, before Doctor one hops in the second TARDIS and dematerialises with it.

So that clears that up...

Despite being utter nonsense, there are some strong comedic moments in this fun little romp, such as Amy Pond flirting with herself, and the premise is fairly unique (we’re a little surprised it took almost 50 years of the show before the TARDIS materialised inside itself)...
