2. Better Call Saul, Season 1 - AMC
Depending on who you ask, you might hear that Breaking Bad was the greatest television show of all time. So when the opportunity arose to revisit the world of Albuquerque, New Mexico, in a prequel spin-off focusing on one of the side characters, AMC couldn't greenlight it fast enough. But would this spin-off be more Frasier? Or more Joey? After watching the first season, it's obvious that the show not only fills the void of Breaking Bad's departure, but also stands on its own merit as a fantastic show. Bob Odenkirk adds new dramatic layers to the titular character who on Breaking Bad was seen mostly as comic relief. Before there was Saul Goodman, there was Jimmy McGill, and the show chronicles how Jimmy became Saul. In addition to telling Jimmy's backstory, the show also tells the backstory of Mike Ehrmantraut (played by Jonathan Banks). An episode focusing solely on him, "Five-O," was some of Banks's best work, either on this show or on Breaking Bad. For those who were suffering from Breaking Bad withdrawal, Better Call Saul is the perfect methadone.
