9. "Lose Yourself"
By far the darkest in Entourage’s run, season seven sees Vince torpedo his career as he spirals into questionable decisions and drug addiction. Whether or not actor Adrian Grenier is entirely up to the task is debatable, but the storyline adds some much needed tension to the latter years of the show.
The season finale sees the gang stage an intervention, giving the gang a chance to flex some dramatic muscle. Jerry Ferrara and especially Kevin Dillon are genuinely affecting here as they try to convince their movie star pal to change his ways.
It falls on deaf ears, though, and soon Vince is locked in a hotel room with a bottle of whisky and a bag of the hard stuff. It’s not until he crashes Eminem’s party and receives a swift beating for his troubles that he realises he has finally hit bottom.
Vince’s drug addiction was swiftly dismissed in the eighth and final season, which is a shame as it added some narrative bite, but this episode, one of the bleakest in the show, manages to spin a tragic tale in an unusually mature manner.
