10 Best Episodes Of Prematurely Cancelled TV Shows
7. I Can’t Leave Her - Sense8
Sense8 was a seminal show for queer representation in television, but never hit the heights of other Netflix Originals, and thus drew the executioner’s axe. Fan pressure did see it brought back for a one off Netflix movie after Season 2, but some viewers even then wanted a lot more.
Sense8 may well go on to become a cult show in the future, not only for its boundary breaking unabashed queerness but also for the deep, culture driven themes and unique perspective. It may also sink like a stone into obscurity, but given its quality that would be a real shame.
Either way, while there were a lot of good episodes in Sense8’s locker, I Can’t Leave Her comes out on top in the end. The Season 1 finale just beat out the likes of What Is Human? and You Want A War? for the gong.
I Can’t Leave Her sees Riley ready to give birth, with all of the Sensates combining to help protect her throughout. It provides an explosive finale, and it’s a shame the show was cut so short in the end as this episode shows how rich with plot and themes Sense8 could be.
