10 Best Episodes Of Prematurely Cancelled TV Shows
8. SNAFU - Agent Carter
When people talk about the MCU connected shows being cancelled too early, typically it’s the Netflix shows up for discussion; for what it’s worth, one of them will be featuring here later, too. Agent Carter though is often overlooked, despite being just as good and also being cancelled way too soon.
It only ran for two seasons but with a limited marketing campaign (certainly compared to MCU features and Netflix shows), it seemed to suffer from viewer fatigue and low figures saw it cancelled.
The second season wasn’t quite as strong as the first, but certainly not so poor as to warrant the axe. Revolving around Peggy Carter post war, the show also featured a young Howard Stark and the original Jarvis, his butler.
SNAFU involves Carter being interrogated by her own agency, keeping her cool throughout it all to prove, as if there was any doubt, that she’s the best agent they’ve got.
It’s especially good at showing the dynamics within the agency. Sousa is as angry as ever, but we see Thompson confused by Peggy’s refusal to break down, and Dooley being outright impressed by her.
It builds the Russian conspiracy storyline well too, and stands tall as Agent Carter’s best.
