The Simpsons could have filled every spot on this list, quite literally. Whether you take the bad Simpsons seasons to be post 9, post 11 or even a generous post 24, there’s still a lot of contenders. When it comes to The Simpsons, being bad is relative to its glory years.
Though the Golden Era is a long way back in the rear view mirror, The Simpsons still puts out an absolutely great episode once every couple of seasons.
Brick Like Me, Eternal Moonshine Of The Simpson Mind, The Squirt & The Whale, The Town and Eeny Teeny Maya Moe all could have been here as gems in their respective seasons. However, Halloween Of Horror from Season 27 is the pick of the bunch.
It breaks free of the usual Treehouse segments to tell a more down to Earth Halloween story, with Lisa traumatised after a visit to Krusty’s Halloween exhibit.
What follows is a Homer and Lisa story in the vein of classics like Lisa The Vegetarian, Lisa’s Substitute and HOMR. Not as good as them, perhaps, but one of the few modern episodes to capture the original, relatable father-daughter dynamic.
