10 Best Family Guy Characters Only In One Episode

6. Franz Gutentag

Mickey McFinnigan Family Guy
Fox

For anyone who has watched Family Guy for more than five minutes, it should have been glaringly obvious that a new character named Franz Gutentag would turn out to be a Nazi. But it's the show's self-awareness and trademark black humour that make this utterly predictable plot twist a memorable one nonetheless.

Chris meets Franz when he wanders into the latter's newly opened puppet store, and the two quickly become friends. This concerns their neighbour, Herbert, who recognises Gutentag as Franz Schlechtnacht, a sadistic former officer of the labour camp Herbert was held in during World War II, and he immediately warns the Griffin family. Unsurprisingly, they ignore his warning until it's too late.

Franz holds Chris and Peter captive in his basement until Herbert, dressed in his old military uniform, bursts through the door to rescue them. Franz reveals his Nazi colours, and, to a bombastic orchestral soundtrack, they fight to the death. Veeeeeeeery slowly.

It's Herbert who wins out in the end when Franz trips through the open front door and falls off the house's single step, plummeting in brilliantly lavish slow motion to his eventual demise.
