10 Best Fusions In Steven Universe

9. Sugilite : Garnet & Amethyst

Who do you call when you need to absolutely DESTROY a skyscraper-sized communication tower? Someone with a lot of brute strength.

A colossal, brute, Sugilite made her aggressive debut in the 20th episode of the first season, "Coach Steven." She was the second fusion introduced in the series, but the first to show the entire fusion process. From the moment the funky beat started fans knew this fusion was going to be something to see.

She is colossal with four arms, FIVE eyes, a huge flowing mane of hair, and fangs that look larger than Steven. She wears sharp shades and sports ripped clothes matching her overall purple hue. Her weapon of choice is a flail made from Amethyst's whip and Garnet's gauntlets and she swings it with wild abandon, at times being careless with the mess she's causing.

Since she's formed from Garnet and Amethyst, her personality is a lot more impulsive and loud. Even before Garnet and Amethyst fuse there is concern from Pearl about Sugilite's instability. Concerns that ultimately prove true when the fusion destroys not only the tower, but also the warp pad needed to return home. She refuses to defuse, Garnet and Amethyst getting lost in the larger Gem's self-centered, over indulgent personality.

As Garnet says to Amethyst after refusing to form Sugilite again:

You can be reckless and I can be rash, and we can both get out of control.

Sugilite is voiced by female rapper Nicki Minaj, though she only speaks in her debut episode, "Coach Steven." However, in the episode "Know Your Fusion," a joke is made about having to pay her even though she's not actually in the episode.

She makes one more non-speaking appearance in the original Steven Universe in the episode "Cry For Help" and in the episode "Snow Day" in Steven Universe Future.

Sugilite's raw power may have only been on display in two episodes, but she left a fist shaped mark on fan's memories.
