Drogon was the crowning jewel of Daenerys’ army. Whilst all three dragons respected their queen, it was Drogon who formed the closest bond with Daenerys, particularly following her airborne escape from the fighting pits of Meeran.

Keeping with George R.R. Martin’s original depiction, Drogon was considerably larger and more terrifying than his fellow dragons, resulting in many visual feasts for fans of the show. Season 7 was particularly satisfying in this regard. Both ‘The Spoils of War’ and ‘Beyond the Wall’ demonstrated the awesome power of Drogon.

Though the final season was wrought with pacing issues and plot armour, it was still no less of a thrill to see Daenerys and Drogon in full flight. Granted, the destruction of the Iron Fleet and the sacking of King’s Landing were abrupt and nonsensical, but both events were compelling television nonetheless.
